92.7 BIG FM raises awareness on ill effects of Tobacco Use

The entire Mangalore city resonated in the cries of Dumm Idre Dham Bidi as the RJs from 92.7 BIG FM undertook the task of creating awareness on the harmful effects of using Tobacco. Not just awareness talks on air, but the RJs also ensured that non-listeners too benefited from the programme by conducting a road show at various parts of the city, and then as a culmination to the event, hosted an interactive session at City Centre Mall, Mangalore.

ACP Udaya Nayak, Dr Alka C Bhat, pulmonologist of Unity Health Complex, district health officer Dr Shiva Kumar and Mangalore – 92.7 FM station head Aniruddha P, were present on the occasion and enlightened the mall visitors about the problems related to smoking addiction and tobacco use. Also, talented young artists from Mangalore under the banner SPLASH entertained and educated the crowd with a quick piece of art highlighting dangers of tobacco usage.

The words ‘Dumm Idre Dham Bidi’ roughly translate to ‘Quit Smoking if you have the guts’. As a part of the programme several people pledged to quit smoking, if not immediately at least phase by phase.

As for the on-air programme, the station aired content relating to harmful effects of tobacco use the whole day. Noted personalities, experts, doctors, people who have quit smoking etc. joined the 92.7 BIG FM RJs in spreading knowledge regarding the same.
